Nationwide Winner at the 2009 Awards
LIFE (Leading into Further Education)
LIFE is a pilot project partnership run by Dun Laoghaire VEC, the Health Service Executive and St John of Gods, Carmona Services aimed at young adults with an intellectual disability moving from second level education. This project provides support in transition to further mainstream educational, vocational and self directed yet supported life style options as a full time pilot programme (2007-2009) offering a Full National Certificate at FETAC Level 3 designed and delivered by Dun Laoghaire VEC.
The programme incorporates one to one and group guidance and a tailor made auxiliary programme designed and delivered by St John of Gods, Carmona Services. The following extensive range of supports and learning are included: Money Management, Travel training, The President's Award, Health & Nutrition (Carmona Services & HSE), Streetwise Training course (An Garda Siochana), a Career Development programme in conjunction with FÁS and work experience (Carmona Services and DLVEC guidance service).
