Elvira, Shankhill, Bray,
Co. Wicklow

Carmona Services has provided a Residential Service in Elvira since 2003. It is a 7day/52 week placement for adults who attend both Carmona Day Services and/or work outside of Carmona. There are 11 apartments- a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units. Currently there are 6 women and 12 men living in the apartments. We also support one person who lives on his own.

Elvira Close apartments are CAS funded by the Department of the Environment, and so require that each person pays rent to the Housing Association Limited (SJOG) and also receives a Support Agreement.

The staff team of Social Care Workers follow the Supported Living approach as far as possible. Examples of the supports provided include- developing friendships, managing money, understanding health, awareness of safety & security. The service has developed with the needs of the tenants. Supports are identified and individualised as required each person living in Elvira

Ravenswell, Bray

St. John of God Carmona Services in Ravenswell, Bray built in the 1960s was originally a Retreat Centre and Convent for the Religious Sisters of Charity. In the early 1990’s the Order of St. John of God purchased the building at Ravenswell and commenced extensive renovations. With an initial capacity for 34 people, Ravenswell opened its service, in November 1994, with 11 residents and a respite apartment operating under the name of The Cuallacht Eoin Service.

Today, the service we know as Ravenswell provides a residential service for 46 adults with an intellectual disability along with a Respite Service to 8 families. 11 of our residents live off-campus in houses within the local community.

Within the Ravenswell complex the building comprises 6 apartments, each with its own individual homely setting. All rooms are designed with the comfort of our residents to the fore and the décor in their individual bedrooms is such that it reflects their likes. The majority of Ravenswell’s residents attend a Day Programme in Dunmore House, however 16 residents attend their Day Programme within Ravenswell known as Stepping Out.

In line with Carmona’s strategic plan Ravenswell is aiming to move all its residents out to homes within the community over the coming years. We now have three houses in the Dun Laoghaire and Bray areas.
